Automatic evolution, Procedural evolution or just Auto-evo is a Thrive's mechanic that simulates the evolution of the organisms of the game and is part of the CPA System. In the first half of the game, stages that are part of the Organism Mode, the mechanic is present. It reflects millions of years of evolution in the Microbe Stage.

Current algorithm[]

The auto-evo begins before the player goes to the editor, the algorithm produces five random mutations of each species in the game, and selects the best one or no mutation if none of them is the best. The game also simulates the migration of patches and selects the best one.

When the player goes to the editor, the game applies the external effects, mutations and migrations. The game also removes all species which are extinct and it adds a copy of the player in the overworld.
